Personality
TLDR: Lax, listless, a little meek, and generally not a go-getter, though they work hard enough where they need to. Only Hydaelyn herself knows why this one is a WoL.
A rather listless, soft-spoken individual who is meeker than you would expect of an adventurer or Hydaelyn's chosen. Their way of thinking and life is rooted in a sort of convenient pragmatism: do what you are able to at the moment. Neutral good at heart, they're not going to go out into the world loudly looking to rid the world of evil, but if you need a helping hand, they certainly won't turn you away.Rudi isn't a particularly expressive Lalafell, and others often have trouble telling what's going on in that little noggin of theirs at a glance, though they are by no means enigmatic. Loquaciousness being a weak point, they generally will say what's on their mind when asked. This sometimes results in some unintentionally (and not always realized) awkward things being said.Much more inclined to take a backseat or a supporting role, they're at odds with the fact that the role (or burden) of a Warrior of Light has been bestowed upon them.
Backstory
TLDR: Rudi lived a normal life in a small village until one day some possessed mage killed everyone, Rudi has health problems now and traveled for a bit with a nice stranger who helps them, and when they've recovered enough they went off on their own, starting ARR.
Born into a family of charcoal makers in a small village numbering no more than two hundred folk at any given time and too ignored to appear on any officially drawn maps, life was slow, idyllic, and comfortable. One day, a strange mage sought out their village, casting upon it some strange wild magicks--this particular one scattering spores about the village. The effect does not kick in immediately, but a few hours later a few villagers begin acting suspicious. All hell breaks loose when villagers begin attacking each other, biting some while others maimed them in self defense. Rudi, having been in the forest for a majority of the day gathering wood for charcoal, comes back to find the village in quite a state after hearing some distant commotion. Doing their best to avoid the carnage (though they viewed some grisly happenings), they make their way home only to find the massacred remains of most of their family--with an odd growth of what seems to be a fungus growing out of their corpses.
A strange... ailment has beplagued their village. One of the few left mobile (but functionally gone) members left is their brother, who--long story short--attacked them and subsequently "infected" Rudi with a rather nasty bite to the neck. Luckily or not, Rudi serendipitously manages to cauterize the wound via contact with a charcoal kiln amidst a struggle with their essentially zombified brother. It ends with Rudi beheading him and putting an end to it.
They are, understandably, quite shaken and subsequently pass out. To which they awaken to find a stranger (who will eventually be dubbed...Stranger), locked in a duel with the aforementioned mysterious mage. This ceases when Stranger realizes there is but one poor straggling soul left amidst the carnage of everything. They bring the duel to a draw, causing the mage to retreat. It is then that Rudi's health takes a nosedive and Stranger hunkers down and does all they can to keep them alive through it all, helping them pull through the infection's attempt at a last ditch effort in overtaking Rudi's body. It is here that Stranger makes a gamble and implants a small fire crystal in the base of Rudi's neck, the ground zero of where the Infection lay, as a ward against it becoming too unruly in its host's body. It seems to work, but Stranger wants to make sure it stays that way, so they offer Rudi a chance to travel with them as they again try and track down the mage that befell plague upon this hamlet.Rudi is wary of them at first, but after a lot of deliberating and a heavy heart, they eventually say goodbye to their home and head off. (Many misadventures were had by these two, but they will not be detailed here, as this is already longer than I would have liked it to be.) After a few years of traveling together, Stranger deems Rudi stable enough to not require supervision anymore. It is here that Rudi and Stranger part ways, as the two of them reluctantly agreed that their individual goals was hindering the other's pursuit for their own. With promises to stay in touch and eventually meet again, Rudi sets off on their own, unaware of the events that Hydaelyn has in store for them.

Quirks & Traits
Favorite color: Rust
Favorite food/drink: Perpetual stew/lemonade
If they were to eat all they could, Rudi could actually pack away quite a bit more food than you would expect. However, due to circumstances, they usually only eat very little throughout the day.
Average cook, really great at preserving food and finding really good quality ingredients though.
Somewhat of an insomniac. Every so often they'll be unable to sleep for a few days and then just crash afterwards.
Stutters when talking when experiencing any extremely strong emotion, be it positive or negative.
Their capacity to cry is rather normal, but they look like a crybaby in comparison because everyone around them apparently has the superhuman ability to resist shedding tears at even the most dire of circumstances.
They can play the fiddle decently well.
Their voice is glamoured to sound deeper as a way to guide people into using pronouns they prefer. They try not to let anyone hear their unglamoured voice, though it might happen if they really trust you.
They really, really, do not want to let people see their bare neck or more generally their back when it's bare.
Their favorite places to be in are ones with a lot of people around (e.g. plazas, parks, quieter taverns, etc.).
Their biggest fear is being truly alone.
Has a crush on Pipin :)
Trivia
Their name is based off of cordyceps
(Tentative) Voice claims: Kobayashi Chiaki (glam'd) / Aoi Yuki (unglam'd)
As a non-WoL, they would probably work under the Botanist or Carpenter's guild, or else be something like a gleaner or agricultural worker in Old Sharlayan.

Relationships
WOLs
Niko Lai (PENT): PENT FC's captain. They are very grateful to her for plopping them in PENT. Slightly scared of her and what she can do, but they appreciate her energy and spirit more than they can ever say.
Kori Hudson (PENT): PENT FC's first mate. Their first impressions of him? Intimidating. Now? Still a little intimidating, but there's no one more they would trust with their and everyone else's lives.
Gae'l Glizgo (PENT): An all around good guy. Eventually, Gae'l is who they picture whenever they hear the word "hero", for better or for worse.
Elia Rosales (PENT): The most soothing of the bunch to be around. Regardless of if they want to talk about it or not, he’s probably the first person they go to whenever they’re stressed about something.
Injera Lavasch (PENT): A terribly kind figure, but Rudi thinks he could stand to be a little less stiff.
Nihal Sivangora: He's certainly an active guy.
Jett Hotdogwater (PENT): terrified of him at first but now they r besties :)
Stormy Wolf-twelve (PENT): Stormy.
Naoh'ra Nyoir (WOL): Surely there's nothing wrong with this trash raccoon bonemender.
NPCs
Rudi's Entourage
Scuro Chiaro: Rudi's voidsent, really only goes by Scuro. A man of fewer than average words, Scuro is a rather prideful and selfish man intially. Rudi found him incredibly weak when he first made it into the Source. At first, it wasn't much beyond a mutually beneficial agreement that caused them to stick with each other (Scuro got some of his favorite aether, and Rudi could potentially use him to help solve Stranger's search), but over time, the two become comfortable friends and Scuro becomes more relaxed. Scuro also initially taught Rudi how to better their melee combat skills. Being too weak at first to fully possess them as a voidsent would, he instead acted as a spot of sorts, helping their form and technique. By the time he regained enough strength enough to potentially possess them, Scuro felt no need to and is very happy with their arrangement. He often wanders when Rudi doesn't require his help, and can often be found enjoying spirits and other drink while traveling.
Inba "Pinball" Makhin: Originally from the Azim Steppe where he was one of his clan's strongest combatants, he just decided to leave one day to see the wider world. He’s been taking odd jobs and running around ever since then. Optimistic and gung-ho about most things, one could compare him to an excitable puppy. He is actually quite intelligent, but common sense seems to elude him when he gets too excited about things. Pinball is a little bit of a chuuni. Rudi saved him from being attacked by a group of Temple Knights while the Dragonsong War was ongoing when he tried to take a shortcut and accidentally found himself in Ishgard. Somehow. His nickname comes from an offhanded remark Rudi once made about how he "seems to bounce around (from job to job), like a pinball", and ever since then he's been enamored with it. Pinball looks up to Rudi much in a similar way that G'raha does, and Rudi enjoys his company as well, often citing that his energy is something the world should have more of. He is a surprisingly capable chef.
Shizi "Pepper" Tou: A calm and collected figure compared to the rest of the cadre. No one knows where she was originally from as a group of villagers from southern Yanxia found her washed up on the shores of one of their rivers one day with a lost memory. After personally saving her life and liberating the area of Garlean influence, Pepper has felt indebted to Rudi. Following a heart-to-heart where she expressed this, Rudi handed her a fantasia, saying that she "looked like [she] felt like [she] wanted something different. I know the feeling, kind of." After a lot of surprise and back-and-forth, she eventually accepted it and transitioned into a body that much more suited her gender identity. Ever since then she has pledged absolute loyalty to Rudi (much to their conflicted chagrin and comfort as they wish she could enjoy life a little more leniently) and will arrive promptly whenever she hears that Rudi requires assistance. Outside of that, she spends her time helping Yanxia rebuild and slowly piecing together bits of her past. Her name and nickname "pepper" come from the children of the village saying her face looks similar to (shishito) peppers they grow.
Sylvemont "Stranger" Dulaine: Kind, prim, and proper, though slightly prone to panicking, Stranger was previously the head butler of the lower noble house Budois. Stranger had left their post when the house name had fallen and its heir set out to restore its name and glory. They met Rudi on their journey to seek out Yvellan (on his journey to restore his house's name), and somehow found themself becoming the closest thing Rudi had to a guardian after their village had been destroyed. Stranger adores Rudi, and Rudi in turn cherishes Stranger immensely. Stranger has at many times heard of Rudi's exploits and often dropped in on them to make sure they're alright, though the state they visit Rudi in is usually a frantic worry. They have admitted that even after they felt comfortable going by their name again, it felt weird to them to hear Rudi call them anything but Stranger (Rudi quite feels the same), though others are free to refer to them as either Sylvemont or Stranger.
Yvellan de Budois/Yvellan Blight: Stern and studious (and snobby on certain matters), Yvellan used to be the heir to the lower noble house of Budois, a family whose lineage was known for their prowess in magicks. The house had already been in a slow decline prior to this due to the shifting favor to dragoons to fight offensively in the war against dragons. In an attempt to stop his house's decline, Yvellan attempted to channel powerful, ancient magicks to bring the war to a close once and for all. This ended in him getting possessed by a voidsent and eventually causing all sorts of havoc. While his house managed to keep this under wraps saying he fell terribly ill researching new magicks and had to recieve treatment from afar, when Yvellan eventually regained his senses thanks to a plan heavily featuring Rudi, he took the name Yvellan Blight until he felt he could repent for the trouble he had caused. Yvellan has a rather rocky relationship with Rudi, but the two of them are more or less civil with each other (with a chillier attitude on Rudi's end), mostly due to Stranger's presence.
Corudi Family (all deceased)
Miridi Taridi: Older brother, rather sickly, but one of the kindest souls you would have ever met. He and Rudi were each other’s best friends.
Diria Diriria: Younger sister, very headstrong but clumsy. Took most things in stride.
Fiodidi Fiodi: Mother, a Dunesfolk Lalafell who came from outside the village and settled down. Firm but kind, Rudi didn’t actually know all that much about her past.
Dise Pese: Father, a Plainsfolk Lalafell descended from one of the village Gaolnaught's original settlers. Worldly and jovial despite having lived in the village his whole life.
Semeta Meta: Paternal Grandmother, and one of the first to be born in the settled Gaolnaught. Rudi was very close to her before she passed. Had the same genetic mutation as Rudi that gives them their signature ear shape. Rudi's earrings were also passed down from her.
